Safety. Accountability. Economic vitality.
Restoring what works and fixing what doesn’t.
Victoria deserves leadership that listens to residents and businesses, not ideology. I believe in compassionate but realistic policies that produce measurable results.
Everyone has the right to feel safe in their neighbourhood and downtown.
Policies must be measured by outcomes, not intentions. Waste and failure will be called out.
Evidence-based approaches over experiments. What works elsewhere can work here.
Twelve focused priorities to make Victoria safer, more prosperous, and more livable for residents and businesses.
Make safety the number one priority. Support proactive, visible policing, community partnerships, and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) in high-risk areas. Residents and businesses deserve streets and parks they can enjoy without fear.
End the failed policy of warehousing people experiencing homelessness without treatment. Prioritize mental health and addiction treatment, rapid rehousing with real supports, and measurable pathways to recovery and independence. Compassion requires results.
Reject blanket bans on Airbnb and similar platforms. Implement targeted, enforceable rules that protect long-term housing supply and neighbourhood character while allowing responsible local hosts to operate. Tourism and hosting are important parts of Victoria’s economy.
Every tax dollar spent on policing must deliver clear results: more officers on the street, faster response times, and effective prevention. I will push for transparent budgeting, data-driven deployment, and regular public reporting on outcomes.
Keep downtown practical and accessible for residents, workers, deliveries, and visitors. Restore free parking after 6pm and create an easy program for coffee shops and bakeries to apply for a free 15-minute spot out front. Introduce a Parking Rewards system in the Victoria app so spending downtown earns redeemable parking credits. Prioritize convenient, affordable parking — especially in cold winter months with seasonal rules that make things more convenient when the season is slow.
High commercial vacancy rates hurt our economy and vibrancy. I will work to reduce red tape, offer targeted incentives for new tenants and pop-up businesses, and partner with property owners to bring empty storefronts back to life.
Work with the Province and local partners to dramatically increase detox beds, treatment capacity, and long-term recovery programs. Housing without treatment is not a solution — people need real tools to rebuild their lives.
Develop evidence-based short-term rental rules that prevent abuse and loss of long-term housing without destroying the economic benefits that responsible hosting and tourism bring to local families and Victoria’s broader economy.
Make downtown Victoria a true four-season destination with diversified attractions that don’t rely solely on cruise ships. Develop winter events, festivals, and experiences that position Victoria as a regional getaway for Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland during slower months. Support local businesses year-round and build a more resilient, diversified tourism economy.
Make it easier and more affordable to do business in Victoria. Streamline permitting processes, review fees that discourage occupancy, and create practical programs that help entrepreneurs fill vacant commercial spaces.
Improve transportation for everyone by maintaining necessary vehicle and delivery access while making smart investments in transit, cycling, and pedestrian infrastructure that actually work for Victoria’s geography, weather, and residents.
Advocate for better coordination between BC Ferries schedules and local bus services. Push for weather-protected shelters at key bus stops serving ferry passengers, buses equipped with proper luggage racks, and synchronized timetables that reduce long waits. Seamless connections boost tourism, business travel, and make daily commuting between Vancouver and Victoria far more practical.
Victoria is a beautiful city with incredible potential, but recent policies have created real problems: rising disorder, empty storefronts, restricted access to the core, and housing strategies that prioritize ideology over outcomes.
I’m running because I believe we can do better. We can be compassionate without being naive. We can support tourism and local hosts without sacrificing long-term housing. We can fund public safety while demanding results. We can make downtown vibrant and accessible again.
These twelve commitments are practical, measurable, and focused on the issues that matter most to the people who actually live, work, and do business here.
